🇺🇸 A delicate watercolor captures the fleeting energy of a rufous hummingbird suspended mid-flight. Painted on a heavily textured, cold-press paper, the bird radiates warmth with a rich palette of burnt sienna, amber, and golden-orange plumage. Its throat glows with a brilliant wash of Nickel Azo Yellow, tapering into a soft white breast subtly shadowed with cool greys. 

The bird’s wings stretch wide in a delicate, fan-like arc. Translucent layers of slate and pale indigo suggest rapid, blurring motion, contrasting beautifully with the more defined, flame-like feathers of the head and tail. The hummingbird’s head is turned slightly, its dark, glistening eye and slender beak rendered with crisp precision, giving it a sense of alert, lively curiosity. 

Behind the subject, a minimalist background of soft, gestural brushstrokes in muted seafoam green and pale blue creates an atmospheric depth.
